Yesterday I photographed with Margaret to create her next submission to the Athleta Blog. During the shoot I grabbed a few images for my own artistic photo studies. What beautiful line and form is found in yoga. In my classes we will explore the issue of seeing more in your life and capturing more in your photography.

Cowgirl Yoga • Luxe Retreat at the Double T Ranch
Last Saturday I had a gig shooting a retreat for Cowgirl Magazine. This retreat took place at the Double T River Ranch where I hold my photography workshops. Just thought you’d like to see an inside view of this amazing place! This will give you an idea of the magic of the Double T. The event was Cowgirl Yoga Luxe Retreat where the attendees enjoy horseback lessons and riding, yoga sessions, fine meals and an experience in Montana that these ladies will not soon forget. Coming up soon, October 29th and 30th photography workshop at the Double T Ranch in Wilsall, Montana. This weekend promises to be an amazing two days of visual exploration. I have three fine models for the weekend, excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner by Kate Huston fine chef and catering, and a comfy room for Saturday night at the Ranch. Share a room with another photographer friend and save $50. Marsha at F-11 has given me a new set of lights to demo and use for the weekend. Come learn how to utilize a great set of entry level professional flash. Also, Margaret Burns Vap of Big Sky Yoga Retreats will be teaching morning yoga, and if we ask nicely I am sure she’d model for us. This is going to be an active and fun workshop with plenty of time to shoot in this beautiful location and enhance your skills.
On top of all this, one of our models will be singer/songwriter Jessica Kilroy. On Saturday night she and her partner Kier Atherton will give a house concert, not to be missed.

Workshops at the Double T are… luxuriously fun!
I was going through some of the images I grabbed at my last workshop at the Double T River Ranch. If you’re thinking about attending a photo workshop in the future, this will give you a bit the feel of the place. But I highly suggest calling them up and get the tour for yourself. I just got back from a week in the sun and warmth of Florida where I gave a private workshop for a busy young couple. Actually I photographed their wedding last Spring and when they learned about my Boot Camp for photographers they asked me to bring it to them. So, I don’t have student work to show but during the course of the workshop I grabbed a few of my own to share. Enjoy!

At the end of the day on Sunday when we were just about to wrap up the weekend workshop at the Double T Ranch, I gave everyone the assignment to make images of one another. We even put a camera in the hands of the models. It’s always quite challenging (and entertaining) to put a photographer on the other side of the camera!

Student work is so fresh and insightful. The excitement of the creative motivation is powerful. Here are the photos of Sam Hedlund, Stacie Jackson and Cristy Sampino. Tomorrow I’ll reveal the portraits of the photographers, taken by the photographers. It’s more complicated than you can imagine.
